Mouse troubleshooting guide
Review common mouse defects, probable root causes, and fixes:
| Symptom | Probable Cause | Concrete Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Unintended double-clicking on single tap | Worn mechanical microswitch leaf spring causing electrical debounce chatter. | Increase debounce delay in mouse utility software or solder replacement optical/mechanical switches. |
| Scroll wheel jumps in reverse direction | Dust, lint, or dried grease inside the mechanical rotary encoder wheel. | Blow compressed air directly into the wheel gap or apply electronics contact cleaner to the encoder. |
| Cursor stutters or stops intermittently | Dirty optical sensor lens, reflective glass mousepad, or low wireless battery. | Wipe sensor lens with a dry cotton swab, switch to a cloth mousepad, and replace/charge battery. |
| Middle click requires excessive force | Worn tactile square microswitch beneath the scroll wheel axle. | Open mouse shell and inspect wheel axle alignment; replace worn tactile sub-switch if damaged. |
About this mouse diagnostic test
The Sharing.io.vn mouse testing utility captures raw W3C PointerEvent and WheelEvent
data directly in your browser. When testing buttons, our engine evaluates the time delta between successive
mousedown signals. A time delta under 25 milliseconds strongly indicates physical microswitch
bounce rather than human double-clicking.
Privacy guarantee: No cursor tracking paths, coordinate history, or clicks are stored or uploaded. All processing executes locally in browser RAM.
